The Movieum Launches “SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIEUM”

Saturday Night at the Movieum
Date: 8th November 2008

An Evening of Film, Theatre, Art & Music in aid of The Starlight Children’s Charity

Kicking off the first event to be held the first Saturday of every month, the Movieum will be hosting A Night of Legends’ with a line up of special guests to entertain you all night long.

Film:
The screening room will be running all afternoon presenting cult classics the Italian Job, The Ipcress Files, West Side Story, Tommy and Hair

Theatre:
The Chamber Theatre Group will be performing ‘The Amazing Chaplino and his Violin of Renown,’ a staged performance of Chaplin and Keaton’s classic sketch from ‘Limelight’ in the historic Debating Chamber.

Music:
Thanks to members of the legendary Eel Pie Club, music will be performed by members of such legendary bands as the Atomic Rooster/Leaf Hound, the Birds, the Kinks, Mott the Hoople, The Strawbs, the Yardbirds, and others. See programme guide below for further details.

Art:
The Animation Art Gallery’s resident artist Hugh J will be on demonstrating how to draw your favourite retro characters while the gallery will be exhibiting the work of Steve Kaufman, Andy Warhol’s studio assistant and acclaimed artist in his own right. Ten percent of all art sold on the night will benefit the Starlight Foundation.

Food & Drink:
Food and beverages will be available from the Café on the terrace or you may book a table at Ozu, the authentic Japanese restaurant located within County Hall.

Jonathan Sands, the Movieum’s Chairman says, ‘Saturday Night at the Movieum is a mixed cultural event with something for everyone. I aim to make it a must in the Calendar every month.’

Other forthcoming events:
The Movieum will be launching a six-week theatrical production of David Copperfield for Xmas starting in November. Produced by Zenith Productions, this will take place in the Debating Chamber, now an intimate theatre space in the round.
