Ever wondered exactly how to keep your children active, fit and healthy? Kidzmove.com, with the help of children’s favourite superhero, Sportacus, aims to reverse a trend which has seen almost 1 in 5 children classed as obese or overweight.

KidzMove.com is for anyone who wants to help children move more, stay physically active and have fun. The website has free videos and ideas for teachers, parents, carers, youth workers and sports volunteers to use to help them keep children entertained and physically fit.

Featuring easy-to-understand lessons covering topics like warm ups, cool downs and stretching, weight-training for children, and ideas for active party games, KidzMove.com is the ideal resource for anyone with a responsibility for a child’s health.

Fiona McAuslan is a busy working mum with. She used KidzMove.com to get ideas and inspiration to keep her 20 month old son active during the Christmas holidays:

“We limit Marlowe’s television viewing to half an hour wind down time before bed which works well in theory but means that that during the day there are always plenty of hours that need filling up with activities! He’s a very active little toddler, constantly on the move and always ready to jump, clamber and climb on every available surface and I wanted to make sure that he had as much to do inside during cold spells as outside – without wrecking the furniture.

“KidzMove.com has been a brilliant source of games and activities that we can play together that keep him active and moving – and definitely entertained.”

KidzMove.Com is brought to you by two of the biggest names in children’s health: LazyTown and FitPro.

LazyTown is the only kids brand dedicated to motivating kids to lead a healthier lifestyle. Says Magnus Scheving, the show’s creator and star, “It’s my belief that healthy, active children under seven grow up to be healthy, active adults. That’s why I’ve joined forces with FitPro to help create KidzMove.com and provide free access to everything anyone needs who is seriously interested in helping young children be more physically active.”

FitPro is the largest association of fitness professional in the world, and has decades of experience creating fun and engaging programmes that keep children moving. Andy Jackson, global commercial director of FitPro says: “With KidzMove.com we want to share our passion for helping children have fun and healthy lives. The resources that are available on KidzMove.com have been created by experts in the field of children’s fitness to help parents and teachers really understand how to encourage and motivate children to stay active.”

You can view it HERE.

Nectar has teamed up with easyJet to create an eye-catching viral that reminds people how points can be exchanged for flights, following the creation of the recent partnership between the UK’s largest loyalty programme and the UK’s largest airline.

Highlighting that ‘Nectar Points Cover everything with easyJet – including taxes and surcharges’, the tongue in cheek viral offers a reminder to cardholders to redeem their Nectar points for easyJet flight to over 550 destinations with no restrictions, time limits or hidden extra costs.

James Frost, Nectar Marketing Director, said: “It’s important to remind cardholders that they can pay for the flight, taxes and surcharges using Nectar points, or use a combination of Nectar points and cash. In the current economic climate this is a great way to be savvy, make your money work harder and have a great holiday at the same time.”

About Nectar

Nectar, the United Kingdom’s leading coalition loyalty programme, is owned by Aimia, a global leader in loyalty management.

Over 18.5 million collectors earn Nectar points when shopping for groceries, doing DIY, booking a holiday, paying household bills, buying petrol and even getting their car serviced.

Collectors also earn Nectar points when they shop exclusively online via Nectar eShops at over 500 leading retailers online including, Play.com, eBay.co.uk and GAP [not applicable to retail stores or GAP.com]

Since Nectar’s launch in 2002, over £1.5 billion of rewards have been redeemed by its collectors. Rewards include money off shopping, travel and general merchandise.

our most unsung jazz-blues talents

…………………………………………………………………………………

World class saxophonist, Pete Thomas recalls the sexy, sleazy world of 1940s basement bars and notorious speakeasies on his new album ‘Midnight in the Naked City’ – released Nov 28th through Proper Distribution

Thomas harnesses the rebellious spirit the saxophone was once synonymous with, to evoke the glory days of bluesy jazz playing over 13 tracks. The music snakes its way into your consciousness with a heady mix of romanticism, sensuality and lustiness as Thomas takes you on night out you won’t forget.

Well respected as a jazz musician, Pete Thomas has featured with the Fats Domino band, Thad Jones Orchestra, Loose Tubes, Slim Gaillard, Jimmy Witherspoon, Jon Hendricks and Laverne Baker. As a pop and rock sideman he has recorded with Joe Jackson, Richard Thompson, REM and Elton John to name but a few. More info: www.petethomas.co.ukSays Pete, “Without trying to be deliberately “retro” I still wanted to get the saxophone back to its jazz and blues roots as a somewhat “naughty” instrument. My main aim with the saxophone has always been to delve deeply into its sound. I noticed that the great players I am inspired by don’t have to play 1000 notes a minute, but can express everything in just a handful of notes. I aspire to using as wide a palette of sound colours as possible, even find some as yet undiscovered, rather than trying to impress with a fast fingering technique or restrict myself to any one recognisable style.”

On this album Pete is accompanied by some great musicians including Richard Thompson, Steve Rose, Malcolm Creese, Roy Dodds, Robin Bibi and Geraint Watkins.

Revenue from this album is being donated to charity. Since the release of his last album, Mr Lucky, Pete has raised over £50,000 from sales of CDs, sheet music and his own design of saxophone mouthpieces, for various charities including APEC, LeukemiaBusters, and the Red Cross. Currently all fundraising is helping disabled musicians via Wall of Sounds, a collaboration between Manchester based club Band on the Wall and Brighter Sounds.

For Musicians:

Coinciding with the release is a special musicians pack which includes sheet music and backing tracks. Available from: www.petethomas.co.uk/midnight

Limetree Festival

26 – 28 August 2010

Lime Tree Farm, Grewelthorpe, North Yorkshire

Yorkshire’s funkiest family friendly festival, Limetree in Grewelthorpe, in partnership with the not for profit organisation tapwater.org, take event sustainability to new heights. Limetree Festival will be the first of its kind anywhere in the world to be plastic free and have a working zero landfill policy.

Although Lime Tree is small in festival terms it would still be expected that up to 20,000 single use plastic bottles would be used during the three day event. Glastonbury, the largest event in the UK, used 20 articulated lorries full of plastic bottled water for the 2010 festival or 1,000,000 single use bottles.

tapwater.org will be organising drinking water from the festival’s own supply during the event for both visitors and artists, there will be no plastic bottled water on site.

Sean Birdsall, founder of the Limetree festival commented: “We are so pleased to be working towards a more sustainable festival with tapwater.org. As we are blessed with having our own water on site we have always encouraged our festival family to drink it which has the knock on effect of encouraging less rubbish and plastic waste. It is a challenge to minimise the use of disposable bottles and plates but with the help of tapwater.org we are moving towards a plastic free festival.”

At tapwater.org’s marquee festival-goers will be able to help themselves to still drinking water in glass jugs and garnished with lemon, lime or mint, all for free. There will also be economical stylish re-usable bottles available to purchase should they forget their own. The tapwater.org marquee is strategically placed in the centre of the festival and not hidden away in a corner of the site, showing a real commitment by the organisers to make sustainability work in a festival environment while also easing the burden on festival-goers’ pockets.

Says Michael Green, Director of Tapwater.org, ”The aim of the Limetree Festival is to be zero landfill and plastic free, which fits perfectly with tapwater.org’s ethos. The invitation to provide water for the festival is a fantastic opportunity for us to promote the virtues of tap water and our scheme to an informed audience.”

Embracing music and culture with a great line up on five individual stages, each with their own agenda, the festival is diverse but all inclusive. The main Green Man stage hosts some of the bigger names including, and making their Limetree debuts, ethnic eletronica from Transglobal Underground; The Fantastics who have performed live on BBC sessions for Mark Lamarr and Craig Charles; Mercury and Brit award nominee jazz singer Carleen Anderson and merging the sounds of jazz, blues, folk, funk and pop Krystle Warren.

The full music programme is available here: www.limetreefestival.co.uk

It’s not all about the music at Limetree, although it plays a very major part: the festival takes places at Lime Tree Farm, a spiritual sanctuary at the edge of the Vale of York, complete with roundhouse and stone circle. For the first time this year there will a science area themed on the planets offering eight practical demonstrations and workshops for families during the day, and the chance to remember what the night sky looks like away from the glare of city lights with after dark telescope sessions accompanied by music.

Limetree is a family run festival and it has always been important to organisers Sean and Karen Birdsall, and their family, that children have as much to do and enjoy as the adults. The children’s area includes harp and guitar workshops, DJ taster sessions and for the littlest ones, ‘Weenyboppers’ with songs and games. A separate camping area this year allows families to relax when it comes to bedtime knowing they won’t be woken by late night stragglers and there is a growing programme of events and workshops for toddlers and teenagers.

Limetree Festival 2011 is supported by Welcome to Yorkshire and Lodge Environmental Solutions Ltd.

Founded by 17-year old Gabriel Noble, Origin London is an independent clothing company that will release four limited edition t-shirts in collaboration with UK art collectives TIMC (This Is My Costume) and Puck during summer 2011.

The tees, along with each collective’s work, will be exhibited at the Orange Dot Gallery situated in London’s Bloomsbury.

Puck Collective (www.puckcollective.co.uk) is a highly regarded group of illustrators on London’s graphic art scene. Following the success of their group show at London’s C.A.M.P, the collective exhibited at Somerset House’s Pick Me Up, which quickly cemented their position as one of the most exciting group of young illustrators in the UK.

Represented by Babycrow and Robbie Brown Shoes, the pair will exhibit a selection of original illustrations and prints alongside their Origin London t-shirts.

TIMC (thisismycostume.wordpress.com) are a self-proclaimed “organised crime cartel” with a passion for drawing. They say, “We don’t really agree with un-fun artwork or think about things too much. We draw what we want and nothing too emotional.” The three gents and one lady that make up TIMC, who normally use London’s backdrop as their canvas, will mark their gallery debut with a selection of new works.

Origin will screen-print two designs from each collective. Limited to a run of 30 T-shirts for each design, the hand numbered and signed tee’s will be boxed in exclusive packaging and accompanied by a mixtape compiled by each artist.

“It’s been a real struggle trying to get this all together whilst studying for my A levels,” says Gabriel Noble. “If I mess up French, my mum will no doubt kill me, but this is what I want to do.”
