Come and meet ROCKET THE REINDEER™

Creator of Rocket, Melanie Hurley from Rocket Enterprises commissioned earlier in the year a team to bring this loveable Reindeer and his friends to the screen. Now you can see this 3D animated adventure at Westfield, London and Meadowhall, Sheffield where the film is playing throughout the day, 7 days a week.

Hurley is extremely excited about creating her first fully animated short film in 3D, and believes that Rocket is going to be a very exciting brand and certainly will have worldwide appeal to a wide audience. THE STORY

The story is based in Rocketland and is all about Rocket who has lost one of his Antlers so is unable to fly with Santa on Christmas Eve. Usually the fastest and always at the front poor Rocket is only able to go around in circles until his antler grows back.

Not one to give up easily Rocket asks his best friend The Cheeky Snowman for help and together they go in search to find the Wishfairy who they know has all the magical powers to make his antler grow back.

On their journey The Cheeky snowman, who is always up to mischief, hides from Rocket and starts throwing snowballs when no one is looking.

A bit further down the path the playful Elves ‘Pip and Pop’ are in Santa’s workshop and are very busy decorating trees and wrapping up all the toys.

Finally reaching The Wishfairy’s magical castle Rocket may finally be able to get his antler back in time to fly with Santa that night with the help of the Fairy and her magical bag of sparkly dust, but watch out for that very cheeky snowman as he has other ideas about what do with that bag of magical sprinkles!!

A fantastic seasonal short film, packed full of colourful 3D moments, and something to go and enjoy getting you in the mood to kick of the Christmas spirit.

The film has been created to suit families of all ages.

Time: 15 minutes with narration

The story has been written by acclaimed writer Oliver Caporn, and co-produced by Hurley and Tony Nottage.

Hurley is also delighted to have Richard Bazley on board who heads up the animation for the film. For the past decade Bazley has worked as a Supervising Animator at three of the Major Animation Studios, Sullivan Bluth Studios, Walt Disney Feature Animation andWarner Bros. Projects worked on include Roger Rabbit and Hercules.

Branding opportunities follow in 2010 with plans already in the wing to create a sequel, a costume character, publish the story, make a short film for TV and print pyjamas and pencil cases for Christmas 2010!

Anniversary of Berlin Wall inspires new English Novel

It will be 20 years since the collapse of the Berlin Wall on 9^th November 1989. Lisa Selvidge moved to West Berlin in 1984 and fell into the avant-garde, anarchic lifestyle of eighties Berlin. Now an author and creative writing tutor she has written a new novel, The Last Dance over the Berlin Wall, inspired by her time spent living in the walled-in city.

SYNOPSIS:

In 1984, Johnny East, a dancer, is invited to Berlin by mad Alice, an English girl living a bohemian life in the city at the heart of the Cold War. Alice is besotted with Johnny, but on a trip to the East one day, Johnny meets and falls in love with a Russian aerialist in East Berlin. They begin an affair that leaves a trail of East-West transits, both legal and illegal, including one of the most daring crossings of the Berlin Wall.

Twenty years on Johnny is the director of an aerial company and with an exciting new performance returns to Berlin, a new vibrant city, to face the ghosts of the past.

The Last Dance over the Berlin Wall is a story of young love, decadence and tragedy in the walled-in city of West Berlin.

Lisa Selvidge has an MA in creative writing from the University of East Angliaand taught creative writing for 9 years at both the UEA and the Norwich School of Art & Design. She is the author of The Trials of Tricia Blake, A Divine War and a Writing Fiction Workbook. She has also edited a collection of writings about the Algarve called Summer Times.

Bankside’s Got Talent

Bankside may be best known for the Tate Modern and The Globe Theatre but for those working in property, the area is arguably better known for the number of exciting developments and locally based architects that number over a hundred including Conran Partners, Malcolm Pawley, MCM and many others. Now John Cowell (brother of Simon) of cowell consulting international together with SE1 based Cost Consultant and Project Management company, FOM and international law firm, Norton Rose, has decided to organize a breakfast networking event for them and other related property specialists working in SE1.

One of the most vibrant, creative and commercially active areas of London John and the team has planned an exciting series of breakfasts and other events around the Borough, all designed to help property professionals working in SE1 to gain more, profitable business.

Called fuSE1, the next event is at 8am on 2nd October at Brew Wharf and will feature a presentation by Gareth Lewis, Mace Group Director for Construction Service and Dave Elder, the Planning Manager who will be speaking about the illustrious Shard Project, soon to be the UK’s tallest building.

YogiRascals launches in Kensington

Yoga isn’t just for adults, now little people can enjoy its benefits too at YogiRascals (www.yogirascals.com), the only yoga & activity centre for kids, opening 16th September at Basement flat 87 Abingdon Road, W8 6AW.

Founded by Ladan Sattaripour, who has been teaching yoga to children since 2006 after being a Montessori nursery teacher for many years working both here and in Madrid, she holds teaching certificates through ‘June’s Yoga,’ which is registered with the Wheel of Yoga, Karma Kids Yoga and Little Flower Yoga.

Yogi Rascals fits in well with the Montessori ethos; whereby one should ‘follow each child’s individual needs.’ According to Maria Montessori, children should not be rewarded or punished. At Yogi Rascals success is not measured on a grading system but on achievement resulting in happy, healthy children!

Participation in Yoga has been linked to the improvement in conditions of asthma, diabetes, ADD, ADHD, insomnia, anxiety and many other health problems. Yoga promotes strength, flexibility, co-ordination and body awareness. Breathing techniques teach children how to focus, relax and develop self control.
