Make your own Movie at the Movieum: Grab a camera from the reception (£15), pick up a shooting script and make your own movie in the Movieum. When you’re finished, the Movieum will turn it into a DVD for you to take home with you. This new ‘extra’ is just one of the many initiatives offered by the Movieum to teach both big and little kids about filmmaking. Filled with real movie-sets and props from The Borrowers, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dr. Who and much more, the Movieum is hoping that the venue will attract not just those interested in movies but amateur filmmakers who want to film there. With more than 40,000 square feet of shooting space, including the amazing Debating Chamber, the Movieum is an ideal location for wannabee filmmakers to hone their craft.

The Cannes in a Van Film Festival: 1-3rd June the Movieum will be running the CiaV Film Festival. Cannes in a Van is Britain’s only contribution to the world famous Cannes Film Festival, showcasing 100 independent British films all from the back of a van! The Movieum is proud to be showcasing the event and will be running movies throughout the 3 days on screens dotted around the venue.

The Mo Gillett Collection in the Stills Gallery: Arguably, the most famous gaffer (Lighting Technician) in the British Industry, this personal collection of photographic and cine records going back to 1933 can be seen for the first time at the Movieum. Mo Gillett, who passed away in 2003, was the author of: ‘Light ‘em Up!: A Gaffer Remembers a Lifetime Maaking Movies.’ His personal collection includes photographs of stars such as Marlene Dietrich, Richard Burton, Frank Sinatra and many other celebrities from a bygone era. This is the first time his collection has ever been seen and has kindly been donated by his family.

Wizard School: Following the huge success of Jedi School, the Movieum is proud to present Wizard School in the amazing Debating Chamber for a younger audience! Staged every hour from 11-5pm, the Wizard School is an hourly interactive show involving magic, sorcery and lots of fun. Kids can join in and it’s all free as part of the regular Movieum admission price.

The Movieum’s producer Jonathan Sands is available for interviews and pictures are available. See www.themovieum.com for further information.
